Pause & Presence Retreats are a Culinary Experience

Food As Medicine

“The meals-OMG the meals!—were so delicious, colorful, healthy and abundant.”

Retreat Chef: Mark Mahoney

There are no caterers, chafing dishes, or Sterno at Pause & Presence retreats.

Mark, Jessie’s husband, is a culinary craftsman whose inspired, organic, vegetarian meals made with love are a long-remembered life experience for those who join us.

Mark learned to cook from his mom, who loved making complicated recipes using strange and hard-to-find ingredients. Mark got his start as a chef working at a food stall in Faneuil Hall during a gap year. After graduating from Cornell, Mark helped open Michel Richard’s flagship DC restaurant Citronelle. While Jessie was in med school and residency, Mark was a stay-at-home dad by day. At night, he worked at Wolfgang Puck’s celebrated SF restaurant, Postrio.
