Joy isn’t found on your to-do list
It isn't found in the next training, degree, or leadership role.
Joy is found in the space you create when you decide to make room for yourself and what you love again.
As physicians and high achievers, we are taught to look forward and move forward —toward the next degree, the next milestone, the next goal. achievement, leadership role, patient, checkbox...
Most of us do all this only to find that what’s there is not joy but exhaustion.
We do what we are supposed to do and create lives that look “successful” -- but we don’t feel successful or joy-filled.
Joy isn’t a finish line or a reward for productivity.
Joy is meaning, alignment, and delight—in the moment,
in the mundane,
and in the unplanned.
Joy often comes in micro-moments-- the scent of a newborn’s head, the sunlight filtering through trees, basking in the wildflowers, a client’s “aha.”
We often miss joy right in front of us because it isn’t loud or flashy.
It is often fleeting and floating.
