Transition Well

“I strongly recommend this for anyone who wants to be happier, calmer, more content, and get unstuck. Jessie is phenomenal.”

Why Transitions Feel Especially Hard for Women Physicians

Transitions are not just logistical; they are emotional, physiological, and identity-level events. For women physicians, they intersect with culture, conditioning, and caregiving — visible or invisible.

In medicine were not taught how to navigate change well.

We were taught to achieve, be responsible, care for others, and avoid mistakes. We were not taught how to be with uncertainty, how to honor desire, or how to trust ourselves when the path is not linear.

Our nervous systems often interpret change as threat. We tighten, overthink, hesitate, and brace. We tell ourselves we should be grateful, even as something inside us quietly wants more, different, or next.

We toggle between staying stuck and rushing ahead — both fueled by fear.

None of this means you’re doing it wrong.

It means you’re human, and you’ve been living in a system that values certainty over curiosity and productivity over presence.

Transitions require a different kind of support.

“It was a phenomenal program. It was so helpful to watch others go through the transition process.“

Why I Created This Specific Program

My own transition out of clinical medicine eventually led to this work that feels so meaningful, aligned, and sustainable — but it was far from a graceful process.

Even with years of experience in mindfulness, yoga, coaching, and wellness leadership, I spent too much time in fear, scarcity, overthinking, and regret. I pressed pause on my desires because I didn’t know how to move forward without disrupting the stability of everyone around me.

I searched for a space that understood the realities of being a woman physician — the culture, the identity, the caregiving, the nervous system load — and I didn’t find it.

So I created it.

Transition Well is the space I craved during my own process: calm, grounded, non-urgent, and relational. A place where presence is valued over productivity, where nervous systems are supported, and where possibility can unfold without ultimatums or urgency.

“Jessie gave me the permission and the courage to dream, innovate, and create something I never thought was possible. I've reached the tipping point and it's a place I never ever imagined landing in. Thank you” - Ob-Gyn

What is Transition Well?

A small-group coaching experience for women physicians navigating life or career transitions and seeking greater clarity, calm, and intention.

A grounded space to explore what you want, make decisions without urgency or scarcity, support your nervous system in uncertainty, gather self-trust and courage, and allow room for possibility

There is no curriculum to complete and no pressure to “figure out” your next chapter. It is not therapy, career counseling, or business coaching.

It is a whole-person, mindful, physician-informed approach to change — one that doesn’t ask you to abandon yourself to move forward.

No One Makes Aligned Changes from a State of Fight or Flight

If you have tried to change in the past without success, you are not alone.

Willpower is not the answer. Second-guessing yourself, hypervigilance, and being mean to yourself don’t help. Neither does looking to others to show you the “right way.”

This group offers groundwork for a sustainable transition.

We focus on the skills and supports that make change feel less overwhelming and more possible for women physicians.

You will learn how to make aligned, mindful decisions and how to support your nervous system during change, and leave with a toolbox of strategies to find the clarity, commitment, courage, calm, and confidence needed to create a meaningful and fulfilling life.

“This program helps in all realms of life - personal and professional. It is not the sort of thing you can get anywhere else. Jessie is a physician, so she understands the context of how physicians live and work. She helps you better navigate that world.”

- ER MD

Who is Transition Well Designed to Help?

Women physicians asking themselves, “Is this it?” “What now?” “What’s next?”

Women physicians who know they need a change - personally, professionally, or both.

Women physicians who are considering a career or practice shift, stepping into or out of leadership roles. Those who want to explore non-clinical or hybrid work, restructure clinical responsibilities, relocate or downsize, retire or semi-retire, navigate menopause and identity changes with more ease. If you, like me, are an empty nester, a new mother-in-law, or a grandmother, it helps with that, too.

It’s also for anyone who feels stuck or depleted, wants change but worries they will make a mistake or regret it.

If you don’t know what you want yet and/or are worried about disappointing others, Transition Well will help.

“Coaching was life-changing! Jessie is so supportive and a wealth of knowledge and experience!”

How It Works

Transition Well is intentionally simple, calm, and paced to support your nervous system.

We meet as a small group (a maximum of 10 women physicians) on Wednesday evenings for 75 minutes via Zoom. Each session includes coaching, reflection, and peer learning on the complexities of being a woman in medicine.

Replays are available if you miss a session.

Between sessions, you’ll receive light invitations to support noticing, decision-making, and self-regulation — not assignments or modules.

This work counts as leadership and professional development — because it is. Many participants are able to use CME funds. The program is accredited for 12 AMA PRA Category 1 credits through the Mindful Healers Physician Professional Development Program.

Why It Works

Women physicians don’t get stuck because they lack intelligence, opportunity, or discipline. They get stuck due to nervous system activation, perfectionism, and fear of making mistakes. They are conditioned to serve others before themselves and take responsibility for everyone else’s needs. We have a deeply rooted scarcity mindset — “Will it work?” “Is it allowed?” Most of us lack successful models for stepping outside societal and cultural expectations. There are a ton of hefty expectations about what a “good” doctor/woman/mother should do.

Transition Well works because it brings together all the actual ingredients of sustainable change. Mindfulness to reduce reactivity, self-judgment, and overthinking. The nervous system supports the regulation of fear, urgency, and decision paralysis. Coaching to counteract our trained thought patterns and actionable, fun, and effective tools to manage your energy and grow self-compassion.

Best of all, Transition Well offers a community of like-minded women physicians for support and a sense of belonging on what often feels like a lonely journey.

When self-trust, support, and space are present, transitions unfold differently.

"I trust myself now. I am no longer afraid to ask for exactly what I need and I am aligned in doing what I have always wanted” - Hospitalist, Toronto
